You know it's nearly summer (no matter what the weather outside says) when Black Eats Ldn launch their 2024 season.

Over the last couple of years the Black Eats Ldn spring-summer dates announcement has become one of the annual milestones that let you start to feel like, okay, long days and warm nights might be on the horizon now.

And this year the announcement's a bigger one than usual, because it comes with a venue change. No longer in Hackney, the season's launching with a huge weekender south of the river.

What's happening?

A festival in Woolwich Works — three minutes from Woolwich station on the Elizabeth line, or a two minute stroll if you want to pull up in regal style via Thames Clippers.

Expect a huge lineup of traders including street food stalls, designers, artisan makers, DJ sets and more:

  • A courtyard with street food traders serving specialities from Africa, the Caribbean and beyond
  • A Havana Club cocktail bar
  • An indoor art gallery space hosted by Black Curatorial
  • DJ sets from Sandra Omari, Oaktree, Nassen and more
  • A bookshop, juice bar, beauty bar...

The events are part of Black Eat Ldn's wider remit — '...celebrating and showcasing the best in Black-owned hospitality businesses across the UK... a space for Black-owned businesses to feel seen and for all types of foodies to explore the incredible food cultures on offer in our communities.'

Dates

27-28 April: 12pm-4pm, all ages

27-28 April: 5pm-9pm, 18+ only.

So far only the April dates have been released, but watch this space for updates.

Sounds outstanding, but what if I can't make it this weekend?

Not to worry — if past years are anything to go by, this will just be the start of a glorious array of market dates, musical festival pop-ups and more.

Black Eats Fest runs 27-28 April 2024 at Woolwich Works.
